Chapter 1 of johns life

“I don't want to go mum!”.

John's mum said: “But he is your granddad would it not be nice for you see him, instead of being on the computer all day getting your eyes red as a vampire”.

“OK then”,said John.

His granddad was in the second World war a soldier in the 8th army when he was 18. The legendary Desert Rats. His rank was private. He became a officer in the Normandy campaign. Let's get on with the story.

His mum knocks on the door and granddad opens the door and he said:

“Hello John! How are you today?”.

“I'm OK granddad”, said John.

“I will pick you up at 3, see you John! see you granddad!” said John's mum.

Granddad said then, “Do you want to know how my military service was?”.

John said: “OK”. Granddad said then:

“I remember when I was moved to Egypt. Where our Commanding officer said: “We are going to repel those Italians invaders”. I thought that this was going to be hard. We were given a Lee Enfield rifle, a Wembley pistol and three grenades. Then we went on a truck to the front line. We had to enter a trench and my friend McGregor was our support gunner with a Bren light machine gun. The waiting was worse then the fighting. I had nothing to do. The others had books to read. Then the Italians attacked. McGregor shot most of the Italian soldiers. I shot in the air because I did not want to kill someone. Then a tank came. Our officer said, “A M13/40!” Then our officer called HQ for air support and a few minutes the Hurricanes came and destroyed the tank. That was my first day in Battle”. “That is interesting granddad”, said John. Granddad said then: “Your mum should pick you up about now”. Ding-dong! Ding-dong! “That is your mum”, said granddad. John's mum said: “Hello!, how was your day John?”. “Great!”, said John. John's mum said: “Good that you have fun with your granddad”

Fort in Weesp

Traveling to Weesp with the train
I went with the Schiphol-Utrecht Centraal stop-train service. The train wasn't that clean. The Ns should do something about this. Anyway, it took about 15 minutes on the train. It wasn't far from Amsterdam. It had only a little bit of country side between Amsterdam and Weesp.

From the station to the fort
The Walk was not that far. It took me 5 minutes to go there. But my dad stopt in a pub. I had a Cocacola Zero. My dad had kasteel bier (in English: castle beer) it was 11% alcohol. Later on we went further and went in the fort. Kids got a free apple juice. If you wanted to see the fort You have to have a tour to see the fort. It was for free. It was part of the stelling of Amsterdam. I din't have a tour.

Weesp
Its a nice little town. It has loads of pubs.

This is too in Pdf format.
